Bomb Squad Investigating Suspicious Package Found in Pacific Heights (Update)

Categories: Breaking News

Update 2:35 p.m.: The scene is now clear and everyone can go back to their normal lives (as normal as you get in San Francisco). The cops are reporting that after three hours of investigation, the suspicious stuff found inside a porta potti was nothing more than flammable liquid, which was apparently used in an attempt to set fire to the public toilet. The cops are now investigating this as an attempted arson. Anyone with information should contact SFPD at 575-4444 or text-a-tip to TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.

Update 1:15 p.m.: Police confirmed in media reports that the suspicious device was found in a porta potti. Residents in the immediate area were told to evacuate their homes.

Original Story 12:24 p.m.: The San Francisco Police Department evacuated the 2100 block of Scott St. this morning after receiving a tip that there was a suspicious package near Alta Plaza Park.

The call came at about 10:35 a.m. according to Officer Albie Esparza. The cops responded shortly after deploying a bomb squad to the scene, located at Clay Street, between Scott and Divisadero.

Currently, the streets are closed to traffic on Clay Street between Scott and Divisadero, Scott at Sacramento, and Post at Clay.
