Caltrain hits woman during morning commute
An unidentified woman was killed this morning after a train hit her when she was reportedly on the tracks in Redwood City.

A northbound train hit the pedestrian at about 6:15 a.m., says Christin Dunn, spokeswoman for Caltrain. The victim has not been identified.

At about 7 a.m., the southbound tracks were opened for trains traveling at reduced speed, however trains will not stop at the Redwood City station. Trains are single-tracking between San Carlos and Menlo Park, Dunn says.

The following trains are delayed or canceled:

313 -- 17 minutes late at San Carlos
215 -- 20 minutes late at Palo Alto

206 -- 24 min late at
208 -- 17 min late at Palo Alto
216 and 218 canceled

SamTrans has set up a bus bridge between San Carlos and Menlo Park stations. In addition, SamTrans and VTA are honoring Caltrain tickets. Check back for updates.

I commuted to the south bay for over 6 years and although this is a very sad situation, I do not miss bus bridges, stalled trains, or single tracking. Always a terrible situation.
