Bloody weekend
San Francisco police are investigating two separate shootings in less than eight hours that left a Modesto man dead.

According to police, the first shooting happened just before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Police say the 19-year-old victim was sitting inside a car with a friend at Evans and Middlepoint roads when he was shot three times -- twice in the back of the head and once in the hand.

Sgt. Danielle Newman says police have no suspect description at this time.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

About six hours later, on Sunday morning, police were called to the 1800 block of Post Street where a man was shot to death outside a nightclub near Japantown.

Newman says the victim, who was later identified by the Medical Examiner's Officer as David Gilford III of Modesto, was standing on the sidewalk after the club closed when he was shot.

Police have no suspect information for this shooting

Anyone with information should call homicide investigators at 553-1145.
