Carly Gutierrez: San Diego Woman Disappears During Trip to San Francisco (Update)

Update 8 p.m. Great news: Carly has been located, and is safe according to her friend.

Original story 9:22 a.m.: Loved ones are anxiously searching the Bay Area for 33-year-old Carly Gutierrez, a San Diego massage therapist who went missing during a trip to the Bay Area.

According to her friend, Valerie Tuffy, Gutierrez drove up to the Bay Area last Friday for the weekend. Her truck broke down "near a train station" on Saturday and the following day she called Tuffy asking to stay at her place in San Mateo for the night.

"When I last spoke to her at 8:34pm, she said she was on her way to Bart and I asked her to call me as soon as she got to the Millbrae station," Tuffy told us.

Tuffy says she has not heard from her friend since. Oddly enough, Gutierrez's ex-husband says he saw there was a charge for the Broadway Motel in Oakland Sunday night. She also had scheduled massage appointments in San Diego that she never canceled.

Tuffy has filed a police report and has plastered the area with photos of Gutierrez, who also goes by Carly Janine or Carly Towle.

Gutierrez is 5-foot-6 has brown hair and blue eyes. She was was last seen driving a silver 2004 Ford Ranger with Extra Cab and the license plate: 7K26230.

"Her friends are urgently trying to get out the word to help find her as it appears she's in a very delicate mental state," Tuffy said.

Anyone with information is asked to call San Francisco police.
