BART Trains Running, Expect 45-Minute Delays
If you awoke extra early today with the same spirited feeling you have on Christmas morning, excited to catch a BART train, well, that's too bad -- the gifts aren't under the tree just yet.
It's like picking up right where you left off
A tentative BART labor deal was reached late last night, but that didn't give BART enough time to pull it together and get all the trains running in time for your morning commute today. In short, you might have to hop the bus or ferry one more time today.
According to BART, there's a staffing shortage and the transit agency is scrambling to give everyone what they want -- another crowded ride on BART. After saying they'd have the trains operating at 4 a.m. today, BART sent out the following note, at about 4 a.m.
"BART is attempting to staff positions and will remain closed until further notice."
Then at about 5:50 a.m., BART issued another statement, saying they have some of the trains running limited service, and that commuters can expect delays of up to 45 minutes. Full service is expected to tomorrow.
Welcome back to BART.
