Friends of Christy Svanemyr, the Daly City mother who was killed last week when a city worker ran over her, have organized a fundraising page to help her husband and 11-month-old daughter financially.

Donations have been flooding into the Christy Svanemyr Family Fund, which has amassed more than $39,000 as of this afternoon -- well above the $25,000 goal.

Per the fundraising page:

The outpouring of support for the Svanemyrs has been astounding and overwhelming. Even though the "goal" has been reached, the support needed is endless. Please continue to give as you are moved to. The site will continue to accept donations through this page. Vegar will be giving any funds not used for their immediate needs to a children's charity, in memory of Christy.

For those of you moved to support Christy's family, you can contribute here to help ensure that Vegar and Isa will be financially secure through these next few months.

Every donation is deeply appreciated.

Svanemyr was laying in the grass at Holly Park with her daughter and their dog at about 2:25 p.m. on Thursday when a Rec and Park maintenance driver turned off the path and onto the grass, driving toward the family. He hit her and drove off as witnesses yelled at him to stop. Svanemyr was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Both the baby and the dog were uninjured.

A few minutes after the incident, police located the driver nearby; 57-year-old Thomas Burnoski was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter and felony hit and run. Burnoski has worked with the Rec and Park Department since 2006.

The 35-year-old was a Zen priest and worked as a counselor at New Ventures West, a San Francisco-based organization providing counseling services to those in need, where she helped thousands "through her kindness and friendship," according to a statement from her company.

Donors have kicked in as little as $5 and as much as $1,000. Here's what some are saying:
