Muni Bus Catches on Fire

Categories: Fire

Not the Geary bus, but still exciting, yes?
The last time a blazing Muni bus made headlines was on Oct. 29, 2012, after the Giants won the World Series and unruly revelers set fire to the bus outside AT&T Park for only dumb reasons. Muni is cleaning up yet another incendiary scene this morning, this time in the Outer Richmond where a 38-Geary bus caught fire, but in a much less exciting way.

According to Muni, at about 6:46 a.m., the agency got calls about a burning bus parked at Point Lobos Avenue and 48th Avenue near Lands End, said Paul Rose, spokesman for Muni.

The fire, which damaged the left rear side of the bus, was extinguished withing a few minutes. Only the bus driver and one other passenger was on board the bus when the fire started, however, nobody was injured.

The bus has since been towed back to a Muni maintenance yard where investigators are inspecting the vehicle's surveillance video to try to figure out what the hell happened. There's gotta be more to this story.
