Do You Double Park? Supervisor Scott Wiener Is Going To Make Your Life Hell

That's one way to enforce it
You know who else is tired of your double parking around town? Supervisor Scott Wiener. That's right the man who banned naked penises is now turning his efforts toward irreverent drivers who think they can park any damn place they please.

And there's a reason drivers think that -- because they kinda can. As Wiener notes this morning, the city has been a little too hands-off when it comes to double parking. But that's about to come to an end.

Wiener is calling for a hearing to talk about how out-of-control the double parking is around San Francisco.

"Double parking is usually illegal but seldom enforced," Wiener said in a statement.

The Municipal Transportation Agency will need to brush up on its parking policy. At this soon-to-be-held hearing, Wiener will ask the agency to report on city policy on double parking, detail how double parking screws up traffic, Muni, and bikes, as well as explain current enforcement policies. In addition, officials will have to report on citation statistics for double parking.

"Double parking causes unnecessary traffic jams, and a single car, truck, or taxi double-parked on a Muni route can disrupt an entire transit line," Wiener said. "We need adequate enforcement to improve traffic flow in our city."

Best you go move your car now.

How about ticketing drivers parked in the bike lane too?  Oh wait, the SFPD would have to ticket themselves.  Doh!

Hire a thousand more parking nazis and let them write millions and millions of tickets until the people revolt and all plead not guilty and demand trials and supenis witnesses who ask for an extension until the system is so fucked it breaks down. Oh, shit I forgot its already broke beyond repair. A good 9.9 would solve everything .

start with Golden Gate Ave. and Turk.  Those three-lane wide thru-ways are often narrowed to a single lane between Franklin and Divisadero (yep, PUBLIC HOUSING PROJECTS).

Please Gerald, the SFMTA should be planning loading zones in business thoroughfares. They seem complacent to have trucks use the bike lanes. #SFMTAfail

What about the illegal Sunday median parking? This needs to end too.

delivery type vehicles should be an exception since most businesses don't have loading docks

Good zero tolerance...is always a risk of a head-on...people passing don't care if there is opposing traffic and speed up to get around.
