Three "Nerdy" But Fun Dudes Behind the Popular S.F. Twerking Trio Video
So, you're sitting in a park, flipping through your iPhone, having what you think is a normal conversation with a friend. People around you are minding their own business, sipping on their caffeinated beverages, basking in the (rare) San Francisco warmth.

Little did you know that twerking, the newfangled hip-hop dance craze that focuses primarily on shaking your booty in a vigorous and rhythmic manner, encouraging any other jiggly parts of your body to follow suit, was about to descend upon your afternoon phone call.
That's when you hear the boombox. The beat starts bumping from Money Mytch and three "dancers" with what some might call bodacious booties break out into a critical mass of twerking right there in your face. Bottoms are shaking everywhere.
Whatcha gonna to do?
The guys behind Simple Pickup, a popular YouTube channel, really wanted to find out what you would do. So, with cameras in tow, they unleashed the booty of three nonstop twerkers all over San Francisco on a recent sunny day; they successfully captured all the fun and awkward stares as well as the nervous, innocent smiles from individuals and families who were in the right place at the right time.
If you haven't viewed this video then stop everything you are doing now and watch:
You are not imagining it: three women twerked through Union Square, down the aisles of the grocery store, and even at the laundromat, making some people's wait for their drying shirts a little more entertaining.
Oh, and they kept it real by twerking -- hard -- on BART.
The video, which has already garnered over 460,000 views on YouTube (and more from embedded players elsewhere on the web) in just under a week, is pretty far out of the norm of what Simple Pickup tends to publish.
If you're not a single guy with moderate-to-low confidence, who is desperate to meet women, be able to chat them up, get their numbers, and possibly sleep with them, then you may not have heard of Simple Pickup, the three guys behind the twerking video.
So let us introduce you: Jason, Jesse, and Kong are three dudes who came from the nerdy, shy, awkward side of life -- and none of them had much luck with women, or any confidence, to boot.
Then, a couple of years ago, after some pretty depressing realizations and some inspirational, self-motivated lifestyle changes, they started filming themselves approaching women on the streets of Los Angeles, saying all kinds of interesting, off-the-wall, and possibly offensive things, in lieu of traditional pick-up lines. The reactions they get aren't staggering, but definitely amusing and somewhat informative for the right audience.
The women on the receiving in appear (at least in the Simple Pickup videos) to be taken by the charm, irreverence and general affability of the guys, and after having heard ridiculous statements or questions posed to them, they hand over their numbers and the videos have done their job.
Jesse of Simple Pickup tells us that, while there is obviously a thick veneer of general comedy laid over their videos, the idea is to help inspire other shy, introverted men into action. "That's our dream job pretty much to go out there and help guys out, and obviously, be able to get girls, it's cool," Jesse said in an interview with SF Weekly.
The Simple Pickup YouTube channel has over 107 million total views spread among 94 published videos. They have attracted over 47,000 new subscribers in just the past month alone. So it's safe to say, they've found their audience. The guys have also been profiled by media outlets, including Salon and ABC's "Nightline" as well as Jezebel.
So why the twerking video, which is obviously not one to win over the ladies?
Jesse says the inspiration for their twerk-tastic short was simply a collaboration of thought that started when the three of them watched Miley Cyrus' video where she twerks in a unicorn costume for several minutes.
The guys, who are living in San Francisco for the summer, were all in agreement that nothing could be cooler and more in-the-now than twerking in S.F. So the friends and business partners descended upon the streets of San Francisco and recorded the cutting-edge, rump-shaking footage.
"We tried [it], and then we realized we cannot twerk for shit," Jesse said.
Enter: Cherry Red, Dollface and Tastee, the three professional dancers you see in the video shaking their asses in all corners of the city.
The Pickup team hired them through a management firm in the East Bay known as The Creamery Inc., which provides girls and dancers to fill roles as video vixens, models, hosts, and even twerk video stars.
"It was real different than what I'm used to," says Cherry Red, one of the dancers in the video. She added that it was an intense, yet fun day of filming. The girls and the Simple Pickup guys filmed for nearly eight hours that day.
"You only live once, so why not try it," added Cherry Red.
Tastee, another dancer from the video, says for the most part they received positive responses and many rounds of applause from the crowds. "They were perfect gentlemen," Tastee says about working with Jesse, Jason, and Kong. "They didn't make me feel like they looked at me like a piece of meat."
Jesse says viewers and subscribers of their page can expect more off-the-wall videos like "Twerking in San Francisco" in the future.
"We've been doing pretty much the same videos for two years now, and just to keep our own sanity we have to start doing some new things."
