That applies to cops, too.
Last night a San Francisco cop hit a guy who was allegedly drunk walking through the SOMA neighborhood, according to police.

Officer Tracy Turner said the accident happened at about 10:30 p.m. Monday when the 40-year-old man allegedly walked out of a crosswalk in front of the patrol car as he attempted to cross Howard Street.

Turner said the officer who was driving eastbound on Howard when the accident happened "observed he was under the influence of alcohol." The officer was traveling the speed limit at the time of the accident, Turner confirmed.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police are not releasing his name or any other information about him at this time, but said he was not cited.

Despite the frequency of jaywalking in San Francisco, Turner said "it's surprisingly rare," that an officer hits pedestrians -- or anyone for that matter.

"We like to think that we're more aware of what's going on," she said.

I'm pretty sure this is the same officer that almost hit me 10 minutes prior on 4th and Folsom last night, heading towards the embarcadero. The officer (a woman) approached the red light as I was walking across and then proceeded to run the red light without putting on her emergency lights and almost hit me! I know she saw me! And I definitely saw her! I remember thinking "she's going to hit someone!" Ridiculous!

Hey dummy,

Don't you remember, it was a drunk fireman driving a red fire truck that hit a biker not a sober women cop running a red light and hit pedestrian legally in crosswalk.

Drunk fireman=red truck

Sober cop= runs red light

Confusing, top much red
