Drunk driving is always a bad idea, especially if you're a firefighter. On duty. Driving a red engine to an emergency call.

Veteran San Francisco firefighter, Michael Quinn was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly hit a motorcyclist while driving under the influence, police said.

According to San Francisco police, Quinn was responding to an emergency call at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday with the siren blaring when the ladder truck he was driving hit a motorcyclist as he drove through the intersection at Fifth and Howard streets.

Quinn, 43, allegedly left the scene of the accident and was arrested later that night on suspicion of driving under the influence, said Sgt, Dennis Toomer.

The victim was treated for non life-threatening injuries.

BS... What the hell was that motorcyclist doing in the middle of the intersection.. He should have been patiently pulled on the side of the road nicely waiting for the fire truck to pass.. The biker made the choice to risk his life, the firemans lives, and other people's live when he decide not to pull over and let the truck pass.. The fireman driving, doing his job, responding to the call, was probably focused on driving thru those tight roads when all of a sudden there's a stupid bike trying to "sneak" thru.. There was probably nothing he could do to avoid the bike.. That's f'd up that biker put the fireman in that position.. I'm glad the fireman struck the bike instead of trying to swerve and who knows what would have happened.. The department is blaming alcohol because "there is no way that the department could hit and run without alcohol involved"

The fucking fireman should be fired and lose all pension. The fire houses should be raided without notice and breathalyzer test for all firemen. Caught drinking, fire the fucker on the spot. The firefighters in Prescott weren't drunk on the job, but how many scumbag Frisco ones are!

The scumbag really fucked up the biker for life.

None of the officers at Station # 1 will know just how the firefighter got drunk.

They saw nothing.  It will be inexplicable.  Only the firefighter will be punished, not the managers who continue to let this 5 o'clock activity go on in the firehouse.

Truth is, if someone burps or farts in a firehouse, everyone else  knows about it.

When the story comes out, you'll think the firehouse was bigger than Candlestick park.  "I hadn't seen him for a couple of hours." I thought he was in the weight room or up in the kip.

Truth is you can't change 150 years of drinking in S.F. firehouses.  That's why they call it "the culture" of the firehouse.
