Bay Bridge
And here you thought your commute to work was slow.

The Bay Bridge was closed down in both directions for about an hour this afternoon after a suspicious device was reported on the Treasure Island freeway ramp.

According to the CHP, the call came in just before 1 p.m. prompting an abrupt closure at about 2:45 p.m. The good news is that all lanes are open now, but things are still a little lot slow.

According to 511.0rg:

On Friday, July 26, at 4:05pm, a severe traffic alert is in effect on Eastbound I-80 at Treasure Island Rd on the Bay Bridge. The left lane and Treasure Island Rd off ramp are closed due to police activity. Motorists are advised to expect delays and to use alternate routes. There is no estimated time of opening the roadway.

In addition to a bomb scare, there's also a Giants game, a Justin Timberlake concert, a Jay-Z concert, and Critical Mass.

Hey, look on the bright side: BART isn't on strike.

photo is NOT of Bay Bridge - it's Cairo - very bad journalism - and scaremongering...

what's up with posting a photo of Cairo traffic and labeling it as Bay Bridge?

Can you put a picture of the bay bridge, or at least write "Feels Like Cairo Trafic" under the picture instead of "Bay Bridge".  That's just super sloppy photo journalism.
