BART and Unions to Hold Labor Talks Tonight
Rick Rice, spokesman for BART, released the following statement to the press:
"The District has been notified by state mediators that negotiations will resume at 6pm tonight. After one full day of no meetings, we are eager to get back to the table."
It's the second day in a row that Bay Area commuters have been stiffed by BART for a ride to work, creating what's commonly referred to as a commuter's hell. Until now, both sides had made no overture to come back to the table.
Union workers walked off the job on Monday after their contract expired and 15 weeks of labor negotiations failed. Commuters have been piling into charter buses, ferries, and carpools braving the masses to get to work amid the labor strike.
More to come on this pressing story.
