Muni Passengers Beaten, Robbed, and Stabbed in Two Separate Incidents

Muni riders have had an unusually bad streak of luck as of late.

Yesterday evening, a 68-year-old woman was punched and robbed by a group of female teens while riding Muni; earlier that afternoon, a bus passenger lost it and reportedly stabbed two riders and two police officers before being hauled to jail, according to the Ex.

Then today, two Muni buses crashed, injuring 15 people, including seven kids.

Kinda makes the $2 fare seem like less of a bargain, doesn't it?

Yesterday evening around 8:30, police say an older woman was riding an outbound train at Third and Carroll Streets when two teenage girls approached her. One of the teens punched the woman in the face, while the other quickly snatched up her two purses she was holding, according to police.

After the robbery, the duo ran off the train in an unknown direction, making off with the contents in both purses, according to SFPD spokesperson Gordon Shyy.

Authorities are in the process of reviewing surveillance footage from the train's cameras.

About four hours earlier, a female passenger reportedly flipped out and stabbed two people on board the 14-Mission bus. Afterward, she stabbed two cops as they tried to arrest her. Zsa Zsa Roundtree, 49, was arrested at the 16th Street Mission stop on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Good luck with your next trip on Muni.

Sell the Muni to private interests and arm the drivers.

There is nothing wrong with the Muni, it works fine for thousands of people. There will always be a few people who abuse and take advantage of people on the muni. The people are the problem.

I walk as much as I can for 2 reasons: (1) Having to Deal with Muni in general; and (2) keeping in shape.

What's with the threat-like, fear-instilling ending of the article? Newsflash - this is a major urban city. Terrible things happen all the time on buses and off buses, doesn't mean all of us have the means to Uber everywhere instead

Absolutely. I've only had a cell phone taken but I have had many other scary encounters.

I almost got shot in the head on the 71 Haight late one night by a woman right behind me, whispering that she was going to blow my head off. I could see her reflection in the window, a short African American woman. I didn't even breathe or move while she went into her quiet tirade. At a stop, she got off from the back door. I almost fainted sitting down.
