Man Claiming To Be HIV Positive Robs Store, Threatens Clerk With Hypodermic Needle
Well this is scary.
A robber claiming to have HIV is on the loose after reportedly pilfering from a Tenderloin corner store and threatening the clerk with a hypodermic needle.
At about 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, police were called to the 1000 block of Polk Street on reports of an armed robbery -- and the weapon was a needle.
According to police, an unknown man, between the ages of 45 and 50, walked into the store, helped himself to a soda, and walked out of the store. The clerk, a 72-year-old woman, chased after the carbonation-loving crook, until he pulled out a hypodermic needle and pointed it at her.
The robber reportedly informed the woman that he was HIV positive and that he'd stab her with his dirty needle if she didn't stop chasing after him. The victim halted her pursuit and the soda shoplifter took off.
Police aren't taking this lightly, so anyone with information about the robbery, or the needle is asked to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411 with "SFPD" in the message.
