Medical authorities have identified the woman who was violently stabbed to death over the weekend as 59-year-old Yvonne Barillas, a San Francisco resident.

Police were called to the 2000 block of Mission Street Friday where they found a dead body. The coroner did a quick examination and found a stab wound, indicating the woman had been the victim of a homicide, according to police.

Police have no idea when the woman was killed, nor do they have a description of the suspect.

Police are also investigating another homicide that occurred a day later in the city's Mission District. According to police, 19-year-old Jacob Valdiviezo, was gunned down outside his family's home where he was visiting while on spring break. Valdiviezo was a sophomore at Lewis & Clark college in Oregon. Police believe he was mistaken for a gang member.

Anyone with information about the two killings should call San Francisco police anonymously at 575-4444 or text a tip at TIP411 with "SFPD" in the beginning of the message.
