Nadine opens her gift from Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift is helping to heal the 8-year-old girl who was randomly shot by a crossbow last week during a school field trip to Berkeley.

CBS News reports that the country pop star sent a gift of goodies to Nadine after hearing about the youngster's injury; Nadine was playing on a whale structure outside the museum at the Lawrence Hall of Science when a crossbow lodged her in the leg. Police still have no idea where that arrow came from.

Nadine later told reporters she sang Taylor Swift songs in the ambulance to help calm her nerves.

"Oh my gosh, I was singing 'Sparks Fly' in the ambulance with the arrow in my leg," Nadine told CBS News.

Swift heard all about this, and on Tuesday, Nadine, who is recovering like a little champ, received a care package with a backpack and other Taylor Swift-themed items.

Police have yet to track down the person responsible for shooting the arrow, but the care package from Swift has certainly taken Nadine's mind off the incident -- and for that she's thankful.

"It takes the pain away a lot," Nadine explained.
