Notorious Nudists Arrested for Being Nude Head to Trial, Claim They Were Kidnapped

The prolific nudists who insisted on being totally exposed even after it was made illegal in San Francisco are headed to court tomorrow to fight the city on this pressing civil right.

According to naked activists, the nudists were part of a "legitimate and newsworthy political demonstration on Feb. 1, the first day the San Francisco nudity ban took effect, yet four of them were arrested and cited outside City Hall (three were nude, one was wearing sheer underpants).

The four were handcuffed, thrown in the back of a police van and taken to a nearby police substation and unlawfully detained, the activists say.

The nudity ban means police were doing their jobs, citing and arresting nudists for being nude. However, the police code has no provision for arresting or detaining people until possibly after the third offense.

Attorney Christina DiEdoardo, who represents some of the nudist activists, which to date have lost all legal battles against the city, said the false arrests are akin to "kidnapping". DiEdoardo will be representing the nudist activists at the upcoming trial.

The naturists would like to invite you to their latest show which will take place tomorrow at 1:30 p.m., at the Hall of Justice on Bryant Street.

If you are undecided, check out this video of the protest/arrests.

Haven't a clue how my second comment snuck into this story.  Must be a 4-20 conspiracy or something.

I dunno.  Been going to nude beaches for 40 years but I still don't see not being able to walk around anywhere naked as a denial of your civil rights.  Not allowing people to vote which happens every election is a denial of civil rights be they black white hispanic a student or a democrat.   How about protesting for something really important like gun control or a womans right to control their own bodies and equal pay for equal work.  Just a thought.  Nice clothes optional beaches on Maui and Vancouver B.C. and Hornby Island.  Make a holiday of it.

or how about the fact that prohabition doesn't work and can lead to organized crime getting involved in distribution.  Kind of like what happened in the 20's and 30's with alcohol.  If you believe strongly enough in the repealing of draconian laws surrounding this issue find out how your local politicians vote and what they say and you vote accordingly.  There are people serving long sentences for simple possession, and in some states they have released violent criminals early to make room for drug offenders.   Hmmm, I wonder how many of those violent offenders use narcotics?
