Suspect 1: Ernest Evans
San Francisco police arrested two men, including one teen, last night, who they believe are responsible for two -- and maybe more -- smartphone strong-armed robberies.

Police arrested 19-year-old Edwin Tobie and Ernest Evans, 20, both San Francisco residents, on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy, possession of stolen property, and other related charges.

Police say that on April 4 at about 10:12 a.m., the first victim was walking toward Glen Park Bart near Baden and Monterey Streets when one of the suspects ran up behind the victim and forcibly grabbed a smartphone.

The suspect ran into a maroon-colored car that was waiting nearby and fled the area. The victim was able to jot down a partial license plate number of the suspect vehicle.

On the same day about six hours later, the suspects preyed on a second victim who was walking near Folsom Street and The Embarcadero when a man walked up to the victim and forcibly grabbed his smartphone. The suspect ran into a car that was similar to the maroon vehicle used in the earlier robbery. Like the first incident, the victim got a partial license plate number, police said.

Suspect 2: Edwin Tobie
Two hours after the second robbery, at about 6:20 p.m., officers from the Tenderloin Police station spotted the vehicle matching the description of the car involved in both robberies. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle at McAllister and Hyde Streets, the suspects took off. After a brief car chase, the car crashed at Hermann and Steiner streets. No one was injured in any of the incidents, however, both occupants were arrested at the scene.

Inside the vehicle, the cops found all the evidence they needed to link the suspects to the two armed robberies. Now they're wondering if perhaps these men are responsible for more smartphone thefts.

If anyone has been a victim of a robbery involving a maroon-colored four door vehicle, please contact Sergeant Nico Discenza at 553-9069 or call the anonymous tip line at 575-4444. You can always Text-a-Tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message.

They'll be sent to jail for a couple of months of television watching and soon being at it again.  This way it keeps the police, the courts and jailers busy.  Policing,  incarcerating,  and the court systems are all growth industries w/ good pay and better benefits.  Why would the authorities want these criminals to stop??  haha  The laugh is absolutely on the victim

I think this is the only news source that has reported on arrest of these two criminals... Why ?

They need to go back to Oakland where they live or are from. Or possibly the tenderloin. I am always armed with my air taser which sheets out 15 feet with a red laser and it's completely legal in California and I have no problem using it. Is it a coincidence that they're starting crimes and those neighborhoods? Why don't they go to Oakland to do their crimes fucking pussies
