An East Bay teen was hit and killed by a train last night after he was reportedly playing a game of "chicken" with two friends, police said.

The boy -- who, according to press reports, has been identified as 15-year-old Austin Christopher Price -- was on the tracks off Lewelling Boulevard near San Lorenzo High School just before 7 p.m. on Thursday when the Amtrak train hit him.

The other boys were not injured.

Police used this tragedy as an opportunity to remind youngsters that "kids should not be on the train tracks."

"They should not be used as a shortcut home. This is a very sad incident," Alameda County sheriff's spokeswoman April Luckett told NBC News.

The train was traveling from San Jose to Sacramento when the accident happened. Fortunately, no passengers or crew members on board were hurt. The train was stopped for nearly two hours while police investigated.

I can only agree with nanfer. If I was caught and killed for some of the daring and dumb things I've done I'd probably not lived to my current age. If Ris and Doj had anyking of intelligence and restraint or maturity, I doub't if they would have expressed what they did. I pity the both of you.

@Gary So you're saying that kids should keep doing this kind of behavior? I think your response is HIGHLY immature and insulting.   There are millions who do this kind of thing and die. If  you had any kind of intelligence and maturity or wisdom, you wouldn't be insulting people who are saying that this kid did something stupid and paid the price for it (come on how stupid are you to play "chicken" with a train). I have lost about 5 friends because they thought they could do things like this and walk away without any injury. I don't pity those who do foolish things. I don't pity people who die because they decided to jump in front of a train, a truck, or any vehicle that can and will kill them. I pity their lack of intelligence and I also pity people who don't know how to spell.

I'm sorry I can't feel sorry for someone who was doing something like this -.- It's like playing with fire and expecting not to get burned. You don't do things that are high risk like this for fun, there are other things. This was just sheer stupidity, he was old enough to realize that he could possibly die from doing this yet he still did it. That's natural selection for you.

@dojologa  ~What a sick sick fucknut you are.  A young kid (Democrat? Are you fucking kidding me?  What 15-yr old has already chosen a political party?) has died in a tragic way.  This was somebody's child, brother, cousin, friend, so have some fucking common decency.  YOU'RE the loser (as it's actually spelled).  And besides, you don't think Republicans do stupid shit?  You're fucking clueless.

This was in Hayward, btw....NOT San Francisco.  I'm from the area, and it is very working class.  You shouldn't open your fucking mouth when you have no clue.  Go slither back under your rock.
