Original story 8:04 a.m.:
San Francisco police shot a man early this morning after the suspect allegedly stole a taxi cab and rammed a police cruiser in Presidio Heights.

Officer Gordon Shyy says at about 4:30 a.m., the suspect vandalized the taxi cab in the area of Jackson and Buchanan on Friday morning. The cabbie got out of the car to confront the suspect, and that's when the crook hopped in the taxi and drove away.

Officers caught up with the taxi cab near Jackson and Spruce streets; the driver rammed their patrol car and the officers opened fire on the suspect.

The driver sped off and was later found near Fort Mason. He is currently in custody, Shyy said.

"Details regarding an officer involved shooting in this incident will be coming soon. I'll provide the information as I get it," Shyy said.

We;ll tell you more when we know more.
