Muni car hits woman
Update 9 a.m.: Muni Spokesman Paul Rose tells us the operator underwent a drug and alcohol test and has been put on non-driving status for now. He had no updates on the condition of the victim.

Original Story 8:15 a.m.: A 25-year-old woman is in critical condition this morning after a Muni light rail hit her as she walked through Merced Heights yesterday afternoon.

According to SFPD, the accident happened just after 3 p.m. at 19th Avenue and Junipero Serra; the woman was crossing the street outside of the sidewalk when the Muni car collided into her.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

We called Muni officials this morning to get more details on the accident, and we'll update you when we hear back.

Until then, be careful out there.
