Fun until it's not
Muni officials confirmed that a group of cable car passengers are being treated at the hospital after a trolley accident this morning near Fisherman's Wharf.

The accident happened about 10:18 a.m. at Washington and Powell streets when the cable car made a sudden stop, injuring seven people including the conductor, said Paul Rose, spokesman for Muni.

Rose said Muni crews found a bolt lodged on the trackway, which caused the cable car to come to an abrupt stop.

"We removed it and made repairs and are running test trains now to check the safety of lines," Rose said. "We should be running in an hour."

The injured passengers were on their way to board a cruise ship on the Wharf. Muni contacted the cruise ship to inform them of the accident. Hopefully, the boat waited.

Tourists who were hoping to hop the cable car today for a fun and scenic ride around town are now stuck riding shuttles. Welcome to San Francisco.
