The Brown twins
Vivian Brown, who last year was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, was separated from her twin, Marian, last year when she was admitted into the facility where she lived until she died.
The community is mourning the the loss of Vivian, who was inseparable from her sister; the two could be seen promenading around Union Square in matching cowboy hats, fur coats, or even orthopedic sandals.
From Mayor Ed Lee:
San Francisco is heartbroken by the sudden passing of Vivian Brown, a truly remarkable woman who represented the best of our city. Vivian and her identical twin sister Mirian [sic] could often be spotted together roaming San Francisco neighborhoods in identical attire, bringing smiles to residents and visitors alike. We were fortunate to have called her a true friend of our city. Our thoughts and prayers remain with Mirian [sic] and their friends at this time of mourning.
The loveable duo's fame and popularity was such that a journalist seeking to interview them, as SF Weekly learned, would have to pony up between $2,000 to $5,000 for a day-long interview, and that doesn't include transportation and food.
