Categories: Local News

Medical authorities today identified the woman who was also killed by a speeding driver attempting to dodge the cops as 29-year-old Silvia Tuncun, a San Francisco resident.

Police say 19-year-old David Morales -- a documented gang member in San Francisco -- was at the Valencia Gardens housing projects on Jan 1, when he got into an argument with three others. He allegedly shot at the trio before fleeing through the Mission District.

A few minutes later -- at about 7:45 a.m. -- a cop spotted Morales' vehicle at 21st and Mission; officers stopped Morales, and as they approached his car, he hit the gas, taking off at a "high rate of speed."

Before police could even get into their car to chase him, Morales allegedly slammed into a another vehicle at 21st and Van Ness, which rammed into a convenient store, hitting 26-year-old Francisco Gutierrez as he entered the store, according to police.

As of yesterday, the driver of the victim vehicle was still in critical condition.

Morales was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. He's expected to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. where he will answer to the felony charges.
