Jovan Jones, the 25-year-old man accused of forcing his way into a woman's Telegraph Hill home and raping her, is expected to appear in court tomorrow to answer to nine felony charges.

According to the District Attorney's Office, Jovan appeared in court Wednesday, but did not enter a plea; he was ordered to be held on a $5 million bail and will be assigned an attorney at tomorrow's hearing.

Prosecutors say the 26-year-old victim was talking on her phone as she was entering her home when Jones allegedly forced his way in and robbed and sexually assaulted the woman.

It was the person on the other end of the call who contacted police to check in on the victim. Jones allegedly threatened the woman and told her to be quiet, but she went to a rear balcony and screamed for help, said Alex Bastian, spokesman for the DA.

When the cops arrived, Jones jumped from a balcony with a backpack filled with the victim's belongings in tow. Police cordoned off the area, and with a CHP helicopter, they located Jones hiding behind some trash cans, according to press reports.

Police believe Jones was responsible for a separate robbery in San Francisco.

Police say it "appears to be an isolated incident." If anyone has information about the crime, please contact the SFPD Special Victims Unit at 558-5500, or the anonymous tip line at 575-4444. You can also text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
