A 25-year-old man was arrested over weekend after he allegedly forced his way into a woman's home where he pushed her to the floor of her apartment raped her, robbed her, and threatened to kill her.

On Saturday at about 8 p.m., the 26-year-old victim was entering her residence on Alta Street when the suspect forced his way inside. When he got her to the floor, he demanded money and her belongings before raping her, said Sgt. Michael Andraychak.

A neighbor reportedly called the cops, asking them to check on the victim. When officers got to the victim's residence, the suspect allegedly jumped off of the balcony and ran away.

The cops set up a perimeter, and with a CHP helicopter hovering above, they spotted the suspect in a backyard off of Green Street about 9:20 p.m., Andraychak said.

Police took into custody 25-year-old Jovan Jones, a Marin City resident. He was booked into San Francisco County Jail on 13 felony charges, including burglary, robbery, threats, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and rape. He was also charged with misdemeanor resisting or delaying a police officer.

Police say it "appears to be an isolated incident." If anyone has information about the crime, please contact the SFPD Special Victims Unit at 558-5500, or the anonymous tip line at 575-4444. You can also text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
