Christina Olague Lands New Gig With Nonprofit

The former supe and planning commissioner just finished her first week at the nonprofit Arriba Juntos, where she's a program assistant. Her responsibilities are still in flux, but she foresees herself working on anti-violence projects. "There's always stuff to do in the community," she notes.
Dealing with even the diciest situation in the Mission might be less taxing than Olague's tenure on the board. "It was pretty grueling last year, right?" she says with a laugh. The supervisor was portrayed on the left as an errand girl of the Lee-Pak-Brown triumvirate until she voted to reinstate Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi. Then she was begrudgingly anointed as the progressive It girl once again, but torpedoed politically by a cavalcade of ads funded by Ron Conway and his family.
She won't miss that.
"It's nice being back in the Mission," Olague says. "I don't like a lot of attention. I'm more of an introvert."
