Bomb Squad Investigating Military Explosive Found Near AT&T Park (Update)

Update 12:46 p.m.: Officer Albie Esparza says the area is now clear and the suspicious device was just that: suspicious. According to Esparza, the item that was found was a harmless military box filled with miscellaneous items. You can all go back to work now.

Original story: Streets near AT&T Park are closed while the bomb squad investigates a military explosive device that construction workers found this morning.

According to police, the workers spotted the unidentified ordnance on the 100 block of Terry Francois Street sometime before 10 a.m.

According to news reports, police have not ordered any evacuations, and no injuries have been reported, but commuters will be unhappy to know that Third Street has been closed between King and Channel streets.
