San Francisco police say the man who was brutally beaten in SOMA 10 days ago has died from his head injuries. He's been identified as 34-year-old Scott Nau, of San Francisco.

According to Officer Albie Esparza, police were called to the 1500 block of Mission near 11th Street on Jan. 18 at about 11:45 p.m. on reports of a stabbing. When the cops arrived, they found Nau, but he hadn't been stabbed.

Rather, he was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with a massive head injury and remained there until last night when he died, Esparza said.

Police determined that his death was a homicide, however no suspect description was given at this time. Nau's significant other told police that his credit cards and cellphone were missing.

Nau's death marks the city's third fourth homicide this year.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact the anonymous tip line at 575-4444, or Text-a-Tip to TIP411 and include SFPD in the subject line.
