Medical authorities this morning released the name of the man who died after he was found gagged and bound as 26-year-old Stephen Reid.

Reid and an unidentified woman were found on Sunday at about 8:30 p.m. laying in the 900 block of Brussels Street tied and gagged. Both victims were unconscious and taken to San Francisco General Hospital where Reid died that night.

The female victim, who is possibly in her late teens or early 20s, is still in critical condition, yet authorities say they expect her to survive.

Investigators are still trying to determine how Reid died -- whether he was shot or killed from blunt force trauma. "No one saw or heard anything," Officer Albie Esparza told reporters.

The slaying was the city's 65th homicide this year.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident is urged to contact SFPD at 575-4444 anonymously or text a tip to TIP411.
