Don't Forget to "Treecycle" Your Holiday Bush
Starting Wednesday, Jan. 2, trash collectors will be picking up your Christmas trees along with the regular curbside garbage to recycle it for you. Your clean tree (that means without any decorations or evidence of holiday cheer) should be placed on the curb before 6 a.m. on your regularly scheduled pickup day for garbage.
Please don't get together with your neighbors and pile your trees on the street corner. That's not helpful.
Be sure to remove all things fun -- tinsel, decorations, plastic bags, stands, fake snow (aka flocking), and lights. If your tree is over 6 feet, please cut it in half. Trees collected from the curb will be chipped at Recology in San Francisco, the transfer station and recycling center.
"If you are searching for a good resolution, helping the city achieve zero waste by 2020 is a good one," said Melanie Nutter, director of the San Francisco Department of the Environment.

Curbside collection will be offered until Jan. 15; after that you are on your own.
