Newborn Baby Found on the Street in the Bayview (Update)

Update 9:30 a.m.:: Officer Gordon Shyy gave more information on the incident, saying cops were called to the scene where a female was bleeding for unknown reasons. Prior to the officers' arrival, the female subject left the area. When the cops arrived, they found a man with the newborn, who was unresponsive. After performing CPR, the cops transported the baby to the hospital. Both mom and baby are still in the hospital and are expected to survive. Anyone with information regarding this incident can call Sgt. John Keane of SFPD's Special Victims Unit at 553-9363.

Original story 7:28 a.m.: A newborn baby was rushed to the hospital last night after the cops spotted the baby laying in the street in the city's Bayview neighborhood.

According to press reports, the baby was seen about 2 a.m. near McKinnon Avenue and Third Street. Police took the baby away in a squad car and rushed to a local hospital. A woman was also taken to San Francisco General Hospital.

The great news is that the newborn is expected to survive.

Police are trying to determine exactly what happened and who was involved in this incident.
