Muni Is Back on Track

The Tuesday morning commute should be a smooth(er) ride for everyone after last night's nightmare transit shutdown, which affected some 40,0000 Muni passengers trying to make their way home Monday night.

According to Muni, full service was restored as of 5 a.m. after a blown transformer knocked out service for most of the night.
Here's what happened: About 6 p.m., a transformer blew at the Van Ness station, thanks to that heavy rainfall on Sunday. The agency replaced the subway service with a bus bridge through the night.

And while you were sleeping, Muni crews worked all night to restore service just in time for your Tuesday morning commute.

But don't get too comfortable just yet -- more rain (and probably commuting hell) is headed our way.
