Midsummer Night's Dream Coming to West Portal Library

Well, now you can. But not in the men's room. There will be no donkeys or transmutations in the men's room.
A Shakespeare on Tour production of A Midsummer Night's Dream will be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the children's room of the West Portal branch. That library isn't exactly the Globe Theatre when it comes to size, so fans of the Bard may want to be punctual.

The library pitches the forthcoming show as "suitable for elementary students through adults." This is true -- though audience members spooked by arranged marriages, faeries, donkey men, or iambic pentameter are advised to avoid West Portal.
A mid-winter production of A Midsummer Night's Dream isn't exactly timely. But no one was clamoring for The Winter's Tale. A story featuring poisonings and child abandonment might not play so well in the children's room.
