A San Francisco federal grand jury has indicted 11 people on suspicion of possessing and distributing large quantities of narcotics. And when police say "large," they're talking more than 570 pounds of crystal methamphetamine.

Federal prosecutors announced the arrests today after cops seized the illegal drugs with a street value of more than $6 million. In addition, police found more than $160,000 in U.S. currency, 10 firearms, and seven automobiles, all of which were also seized on Nov. 30.

The federal grand jury indicted the group on drug-related charges that include conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, distribution of methamphetamine, and conspiracy to commit international money laundering, according to Melinda Haag, U.S. Attorney for Northern California.

The indictment, which was unsealed this afternoon, indicated that the suspects "engaged in a narcotics conspiracy to distribute large amounts of methamphetamine throughout California." The indictment also alleges that the suspects were planning to expand their illegal drug business internationally.

Six of the 11 were charged by the state for possession of methamphetamine, possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, and possession of a stolen firearm. The remaining five suspects face federal charges.
