SFPD Is out in Force During Black Friday

You already know that city streets will be bursting with traffic this Black Friday, but what you probably didn't know was that the cops would be out in force, too.

Motorcycle cops will be cruising the streets making the city safe for little Johnny to go Christmas shopping, and they'll be focusing their attention on downtown neighborhoods, like Union Square, where shoppers congregate.

As you make your way to the malls to get a jump on your Christmas-shopping list, be sure and pay attention to the road, or a traffic ticket could be your next present.

Police say they'll be watching for drivers using their cell phones, carpool and Muni transit lane violators, and people who don't stop for pedestrians. During the first week of this month, 22 people were injured trying to cross the street.

Don't run over little Johnny.
