Now the beach is even dirtier!
City crews are down at Ocean Beach cleaning up nasty sewage that spilled earlier this morning.

At about 1 a.m. today, crews discovered the mess discharging from a manhole cover at the intersection of Great Highway and Balboa Street. Workers are onsite as we type, attempting to clean up the spill and get rid of any contamination.

The good news is that this spill is estimated to be 90 percent rainwater, as opposed to other unsavory things that could be found in the city's sewage pipes.

City officials consulted with the National Park Service, and decided, as a precaution, to close a portion of Ocean Beach as well as the Promenade around Great Highway and Balboa Street.

More god news: Traffic isn't affected by this mess.

Oh well, it really wasn't a good day for the beach anyhow.
