(Update 1 p.m.) F.X. Crowley's campaign responds below.

Capturing 50 percent of the vote, it appears Norman Yee has won the District 7 Supervisor seat.

As of 4 p.m. yesterday, the Department of Elections reported Yee ahead of F.X. Crowley by 131 votes. The election results won't be certified until next month, however, John Arntz, director for the Elections Department, confirmed to the Examiner that "We are pretty much done. What you see here is pretty much close to our final result."

While Yee is celebrating his declared victory, Crowley has yet to officially give up.

It was a marathon race between the two candidates, which spurred 10 days of counting votes; after election day Crowley led by more than 330 votes, but that lead continued to shrink day-by-day until finally, Yee garnered the 50 percent of the vote he needed with 12,448 votes, just 131 voted ahead of Crowley who had 12,317.

Yee sent out a statement to the press last night, saying, "I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and working with other supervisors to make San Francisco a safer and better place for families and individuals to live. As I said during my campaign, I will bring an independent voice, free of special interest groups, to represent District 7."

We put in a call to Crowley to find out if and when he plans to concede the race. We'll let you know when we hear back.

Meanwhile Yee says he wouldn't be surprised if Crowley called for a recount. No official word on that yet, but Yee told SF Weekly this morning that he welcomes it. "They have the right to do that, but I'm not feeling very nervous about it."

Update 1 p.m. Alex Tourk, campaign manager for Crowley e-mailed to say that this race isn't over yet. "The race has not yet been officially called or certified.  At this point F.X. is weighing all of his options," Tourk wrote.
