Well, crime does increase in a bad economy

Napa police are investigating a break-in at Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi's Napa Valley home that happened long before voters started heading to the polls on Tuesday.

Thieves reportedly broke into the House Minority Leader's Napa Valley house on Monday afternoon, the day before she was reelected to Congress.

The burglars smashed the glass door of her home on Zinfandel Lane just outside of St. Helena, Capt. Tracey Stuart, a spokeswoman for the Napa County Sheriff's Office, told media outlets.

About  3 p.m., authorities responded to a burglar alarm at the house, and found the front door smashed as well as a glass door to the pool house broken, Stuart said.

Nobody was home at the time and no suspect information was released. So we can't say for sure that it was a bitter constituent.

We also don't yet know if the burglars took anything from the house, since some obvious valuables were still there after the incident. Pelosi, who was celebrating her victory last night, hasn't had a chance to examine the contents of her wine country home just yet.
