Frederick Dozier was found guilty today of kidnapping and brutally raping three women in the Mission District last year. He was charged with 26 counts of sexual assault, robbery and kidnapping, and convicted of 25. He now faces life in prison.

Inside the packed courtroom, 31-year-old Dozier, dressed in a red long-sleeve button-down shirt, stared straight ahead as the verdict was read aloud, and whispered to his attorney afterward.

District Attorney George Gascón praised both the victims for having the courage to come forward and face their attacker as well as the aggressive efforts on behalf of law enforcement.

"This is someone who does not belong on the streets," Gascon told a throng of reporters. "Frankly, he's an animal."

The disturbing crimes, which occurred in the 24th Street corridor, shocked and scared the community such that residents created the 24th Street Survivors Fund, raising more than $16,000 for the victims.

Dozier's DNA linked him to the three assaults which occurred between June and December 2011, according to court documents.

On June 17, 2011, Dozier attacked his first victim. She was near 24th Street and Van Ness Avenue at 2:50 a.m. when he grabbed her, muffled her screams with his hands, and dragged her to a nearby driveway where he raped and robbed her.

On Nov. 18, at about 4 a.m., Dozier grabbed and choked his second victim, before punching her in the face when she refused to cooperate. After raping her, he twisted her neck and hit her with a blunt object before robbing her and running away, according to prosecutors.

On Dec. 8, 2011, Dozier assaulted his last victim near 24th and Fair Oaks Streets at 6:20 a.m. He ordered her not to scream and choked her until she was unconscious. The victim woke up and found Dozier raping her. When he was done he punched her in the face, slammed her face into the concrete sidewalk, robbed her, and ran away, prosecutors said.

Police say Dozier admitted to all three rapes. He is scheduled to be sentenced Friday Dec. 14 at 1:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, the community is still accepting donations for the victims. Anyone wishing to donate can contact the Fair Oaks Community Coalition  or make their contributions directly to the following:

I still want to know why the public was not notified about this until there were three victims.  It was not until a blog broke the story that the media covered it, and posted a pic, which immediately resulted in his capture.  What, does it take 3 women's testimony to equal one rapists?  And since our DA always loves to plea bargain, you can bet that he has raped over and over before, but the charges were dropped so he didn't have to register as a sex offender.  Just like Richard Allen Davies.  And here's the thing.  If you look a a child wrong, it's Amber Alert Time, even though a lot of them are false alarms.  Yet, when adult women are targets, it's a news blackout?  Why?  Because the cops can't bust a case that a first year crim student could have cleared?  This is the sort of person that is to be given preferential hiring by the City, because if the sex charges are drooped for a plea bargain, then for the thugs and the mirks, if there is no conviction, it didn't happen, right?>  Tell that to the victims.,

ugh. someone should have stabbed him in his dick until he bled to death instead of wasting our tax dollars on his "rehabilitation"... that money would have been better spent on the victims.

@elizabethfrantes They didn't notify the public for the same reason they decided to refrain from warning about the MUNI slasher several years ago.  With a POC (Perp of Collah), its best to let whitey rest easy and not engage in profiling.
