It's been two weeks since 82-year-old Hong Xin Li was last seen or heard from since he left his Bayview home to go for his usual morning walk.

On Sunday, Nov. 4, at 9:30 a.m., Li grabbed his black jacket and his cane and left his home to go for a stroll around the neighborhood. It was something he had been doing every day since his wife had passed away two months ago.

He would typically walk for no more than 20 minutes, which is why his family grew worried when 30 minutes had passed -- and then an hour -- and he had not returned, said Wendell Hom, Li's grandson.

"He lives with my uncle and aunt and she went looking for him, but couldn't find him," Hom tells us. "We've not heard from him since."

The family has papered the neighborhood with flyers detailing the circumstances of Li's case and photos of him. They've checked all the places he liked to go, including parks Chinatown, and Japantown. They've looked at local hospitals and have contacted the cops for help.

They thought perhaps he lost his way, and since he only speaks Chinese, maybe he was having difficulty getting back. However, Hom says his grandfather was very sharp for his age -- he had no physical or mental health issues that he knows of.

"He's been a bit sad lately, but other than that he's pretty healthy," Hom says.

He pointed out that his grandfather had gotten lost once before, but was able to find his way home without a problem. He knows his address and the necessary phone numbers.

Li was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, a black jacket, and slipper-type shoes. He is 5-foot-4 and weighs 120 pounds. He has brown eyes and gray hair. If you have seen Li or have any information about this case please call 911. You can also contact Wendell Hom at 730-0619.

"We're pretty stressed, but we are hoping for the best -- it's been a long almost two weeks now," Hom says.
