Local Bird Kicks Off Crab Season a Little Early
Yum, crab season is here! Sadly, the catches this year are expected to be modest at best, which means we will all be shelling out more money to chow down on locally caught Dungeness meat.
Or, you could devour crab the really cheap way, like this hungry bird.

Local nature photographer David Cruz sent us this photo he snapped
yesterday of a Sanderling bird eating the remainders of a mature
Dungeness crab on Ocean Beach, two days before the the commercial crab season
officially begins Thursday.
Crabbers are gunning to get $3 per pound, but buyers are hoping to pay no more than $2.50 this year. What do you think is a fair price?
