The Alameda County man was reportedly walking on the tracks between the Montgomery and Embarcadero Muni Stations just before 7:30 a.m. on Friday when he was hit.
Muni halted trains and suspended service for several hours after the accident, creating a major backup for the Friday morning commute.
The Muni driver was placed on non-driving status while the agency investigates the incident.
