Rocket Full of Posey

In a truly amazing comeback effort, the Giants beat the Reds 6-4 today to win the National League Division Series. Down two to zero in games after leaving San Francisco, the Giants became the only team in baseball history to win 3 straight games on the road in postseason play to win it.

Buster Posey's grand slam in the fifth inning gave the Giants a 6-0 lead. But since this is Major League Baseball, the playoffs, and the Giants (can you say torture), the Reds came back with four runs, eventually leaving two men on in the ninth.
As the game progressed, inside Pete's Tavern across the street from the stadium it was standing room only as every eye was glued to the screens.

The crowd spontaneously erupted in cheers of "Let's Go Giants," and rowdy patrons loudly stomped their feet.

At the bottom of the ninth with runners on first and second, the tension was palpable as the Reds tried to take the series. Each strike thrown by Giants closer Sergio Romo was greeted with thunderous applause. When Romo struck out the final Reds player, louder cheers went up.

It's the waiting game for the Giants now as they see who they play next in the National League Championship Series. If St. Louis wins, the Giants fly back to San Francisco to play at home, and if Washington wins, they're on their way to D.C.
