Rally for Ross Demonstration Kicks Off Hearing for Sheriff-in-Limbo (Update)
(Update 3:25 p.m.): Well, the opposition kicked off this hearing with a real zinger. According to SF Weekly's Kate Conger, who is at the meeting, Mayor Ed Lee's legal rep said people want Mirkarimi in charge of our county jails like dog lovers want Michael Vick running Animal Care & Control. Ouch! Also being discussed is Police Chief Greg Suhr's testimony to the Ethics Commission, when he said that Mirkarimi's behavior falls below the level of decency for a cop.
(Original Story 1:58 p.m.): As promised, SF Weekly is bringing you the blow-by-blow of today's hearing where city supervisors are expected to decide whether or not Ross Mirkarimi will be fired from his post as San Francisco sheriff.
The day started with none other than a mob of Ross fans who gathered outside City Hall this afternoon to cheer on the beleaguered pol. Here's a few snapshots from the scene.
