We hope the victim recovers
Police are reporting that a 37-year-old man is suffering major head trauma after he was attacked by a group of men as he celebrated the World Series in the Haight District Sunday night.

According to police, the victim joined thousands of other baseball fans who took to the streets after the Giants won the championship. Sometime between 9:30 and 10:30 p.m., the victim says he was surrounded by five men at the intersection of Haight and Masonic streets.

The victim told his roommate that the men beat him repeatedly with a metal object, hitting him numerous times in the head. The men ran in an unknown direction after the attack, police said.

The injured man was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with major head trauma that's considered life-threatening.

Police had no suspect description at this time, and no arrests have been made. Anyone who might have seen something is asked to call the cops at the anonymous tip line at 575-4444 or Text-a-Tip to TIP411.

Later today, the District Attorney is expected to announce charges for the three dozen people who were arrested after baseball fans went on a tear Sunday night after the Giants won. The SWAT team was called out to break up groups in the Mission as well as near AT&T Park where unruly fans were tossing beer bottles and setting fires, including one to a Muni bus.

Can't say I'm surprised. If SFPD would get off their lazy asses and patrol the Haight (which is always super sketchy) then this sort of shit wouldn't happen. Same for Tenderloin. Instead, SFPD is always loitering around Embarcadero Center or Westfield Mall. Ridiculous.

I sincerely hope the DA throws the book at every person who took part in creating wreckage out of a civic celebration.  These punks are ruining the quality of life we all deserve.

Horrified at how some people in the City decide to celebrate a wonderful victory. How does destruction and assault equate to a cheerful celebration of our Giants winning a world series? I just don't understand.

Future reference: when you use the word 'between' regarding time, you don't only say one time. Between 9:30 pm and what?
