Why can't people stop killing each other?
Homicide investigators tracked down a 51-year-old San Mateo man who they say assaulted a San Francisco man, causing his death.

On Monday, police took Timothy Stewart into custody in connection with the murder of 61-year-old Terry Spray.

Police didn't release too many details about the crime, except to say that Spray was badly hurt during the Aug. 3 assault, which occurred on the 1100 block of Ellis Street. He remained on life support until he died on Sept. 18, said Sgt. Michael Andraychak.

Police are still investigating the incident. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the SFPD Homicide Detail at 553-1145. You can also leave tips anonymously on the anonymous tip line at 575-4444, or Text-a-Tip to TIP411. Begin the text message with "SFPD."

Police would not yet release a photo of Stewart, pending further identification issues.
