Woman Details Violent Home-Invasion Robbery in the Haight
| Crazy shit out there |
The crime happened just before 4 a.m. on Wednesday; the suspects surprised the sleeping residents, one of whom was punched repeatedly, according to news accounts. Haighteration spoke with one of the residents who gave this chilling account of the early-morning violence:
They specifically asked for money and searched through the cabinets for valuables. They stuck the gun in one of my roommates' faces and hit the other roommate in the back of his head with the gun twice. The woman and her boyfriend were in her bedroom when the gunmen tried to enter, she said. "[O]ne of the two men tried really hard to get into my boyfriend and my's bedroom but we were blocking him from coming in and he shouted to the other robber to shoot the door but the other robber never did shoot the door," she said via e-mail to Haighteration.
The robbers stole a laptop and a backpack before fleeing in a car described as a late 1980s or early 1990s four-door Honda or Toyota. The victim who had been punched was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are unsure if the home was targeted or if this was just a random crime. Either way, the cops are warning everyone in the area to be on alert.
And of course, anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
