James Rickleffs Accused of Murdering Local Hairdresser Eriq Escalon
Police on Tuesday announced that they had 45-year-old James Rickleffs in custody, and have charged him with the June murder of Escalon. On June 12 about 6 p.m., Escalon, a 28-year-old hairdresser, was found inside his apartment bound, gagged, and dead. His apartment had also been burglarized, police said.
A few weeks later, police handed out flyers in the neighborhood, saying they were looking for a man who was possibly seen carrying a flat-screen television near Escalon's Diamond Heights apartment around the time of his death.
Evidence found during the investigation led police to Rickleffs, who was interviewed Sunday evening by San Francisco Police Homicide investigators. After talking with Rickleffs, who was in possession of Escalon's property, police arrested him and booked him into county jail on a murder charge related to the death of Escalon.
